There&#8217;s .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my unbounded set. I want more numbers than I&#8217;m likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn&#8217;t trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I&#8217;m grateful.<\/p><p>Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, &#8216;Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabu-lous?&#8217; Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won&#8217;t feel insecure around you. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share.This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. I don\u2019t live in either my past or my future. I\u2019m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you\u2019ll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we\u2019re living now. Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. You aren\u2019t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn\u2019t going to quote poetry, he\u2019s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don\u2019t hurt him, don\u2019t change him, and don\u2019t expect for more than he can give. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he\u2019s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had.
